About this course
This qualification is designed to increase learners’ awareness and understanding of the the laws surrounding personal data. On completion of the course the learner will have essential data protection knowledge and compliance information. It will help develop an understanding of key data legislation such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act.
The learner will understand the steps that organisations can take to protect data from common threats to ICT systems, as well as the consequences that failing to protect data can have for individuals and organisations.
Free of charge - this course is fully-funded by the government as long as you have lived in the UK for three years and are aged 19+

You will be provided with the learning materials either online and/or hardcopies and you will have the support of a knowledgeable assessor/tutor who will give you guidance and feedback on the course as you complete it. This course takes between 2 to 6 months to complete.
To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Data Protection and Data Security, learners are required to successfully complete 4 mandatory units.
