About this course

This qualification is designed to increase learners’ awareness and understanding of specific learning difficulties, their context, effects, diagnosis and how to support individuals with learning difficulties. By completing the qualification, learners will develop in-depth knowledge of specific learning difficulties which could support progression onto other appropriate qualifications and into relevant employment in the health and social care or education sector.

Course Availability

This course is available to start throughout August until the end of February, but must be completed by 30 June.

If you are paying for the course, you can start on any date throughout the year and have 12 months to complete it.

Studies Include

How will I be taught?

Delivery and Duration
You will be provided with the learning materials either online and/or hardcopies and you will have the support of a knowledgeable assessor/tutor who will give you guidance and feedback on the course as you complete it. This course takes between 2 to 6 months to complete.

What modules are covered?

To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties, learners are required to successfully complete 5 mandatory units.

What Next?

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

The Level 2 Diploma in Care, the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care the Level 2 qualifications in Mental Health, and Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities.

There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification. However, learners might find it useful if they have already completed a Level 1 qualification. You will be invited in to complete an induction and inital assessment.

Due to government funding these courses are available free of charge; subject to the learners meeting the set eligibility. You must have lived in the UK/EU for the past 3 years and be over 19 years old. There may be a fee should you withdraw from the course.
