This qualification aims to develop learners’ understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals with autism – covering the person-centred approach and influence of positive communication methods, how to support positive behaviour and how individuals with autism can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.
You will be provided with the learning materials either online and/or hardcopies and you will have the support of a knowledgeable assessor/tutor who will give you guidance and feedback on the course as you complete it. This course takes between 2 to 6 months to complete.
This course is available until the end of February, but must be completed by 30 June. This course restarts on the 1 August. If you are paying for the course, you can start on any date throughout the year and have 6 months to complete it.

To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism, learners are required to successfully complete 6 mandatory units.

There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification. However, learners might find it useful if they have already completed a Level 1 qualification.
Due to government funding these courses are available free of charge; subject to the learners meeting the set eligibility. You must have lived in the UK/EU for the past 3 years and be over 19 years old. There may be a fee should you withdraw from the course.
